Throughout his career, Rao has held various key positions in the Karnataka government. He served as the Commissioner of Industrial Development, Director of Industries and Commerce, and the Principal Secretary of the Department of Labour. His expertise led him to a central deputation as Joint Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Department of Space, based in Bengaluru, in 2020. Two years later, he was elevated to Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the same department. In December 2023, the union government repatriated him to the Karnataka cadre.

BMRCL’s Achievements and Future Plans

Under the leadership of Anjum Parvez, BMRCL achieved significant milestones. The metro recorded a remarkable 2 crore ridership in December 2023, with an average daily ridership of around 6.8 lakh passengers. This boost in ridership followed the opening of the missing link between Baiyappanahalli and KR Puram.

The metro network in Bengaluru spans 73.81 km, covering the East-West Corridor from Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Challaghatta Terminal and the North-South Corridor from Nagasandra to Silk Institute. Ongoing projects include Phase 2B connecting KR Pura with Kempegowda International Airport Terminal, Phase 2B connecting Central Silk Board with KR Pura, and Phase 2 involving the extension from Nagasandra to Madavara (BIEC).

In addition, the state government has approved Phase 3A connecting Hebbal to JP Nagar 4th phase and Hosahalli to Kadabagere, covering a distance of 43 km. Further, Phase 3B connecting Sarjapur with Hebbal, covering 36 km, has also received approval.
